About Manawise

Manawise helps Commander players get the most out of preconstructed decks and spend smarter on singles.

How upgrade plans are built

Every plan starts by reading the deck and counting the jobs its cards do: lands, ramp, card draw, targeted removal (including counterspells), board wipes and protection. Those counts are compared with a widely used Commander template of roughly 36 lands, 10 ramp, 10 draw, 8 removal and 2–3 wipes, adjusted for how expensive the deck's curve is.

Next, Manawise looks for themes such as tokens, artifacts, +1/+1 counters, sacrifice, spellslinger, landfall or a creature type, using both the commander's text and the rest of the 99. It then searches Scryfall for the most-played Commander cards in your color identity that (1) fill the biggest gaps, (2) push those themes, or (3) are proven staples, and for untapped dual lands to replace tapped ones.

Picks are fitted to your budget so that no single card eats the whole thing, then upgraded where there's money left over. Cuts favor cards that are rarely played, expensive to cast and don't do a job the deck is short on. Every pick and cut shows its reason, so you can disagree. The Swap and Keep buttons are there for exactly that.

How the site is funded

Manawise is free. Some store links are affiliate links: if you buy through them, the store may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. The site may also show ads. Neither affects which cards are recommended.
